From the history of the Diocese of Veszprém

Incunabula, rare antiquarian works, ornate Bibles and codices, medieval charters, special 18th–19th-century sheet music, and relics of nearly a thousand years of history from one of the oldest dioceses in Hungary – these are among the priceless treasures preserved by the Veszprém Archdiocesan Library and Archives.
The institution’s history spans eventful centuries: it has been shaped not only by the influential archbishops of Veszprém but also by the Ottoman occupation, the events of the 18th–19th centuries, and the decades following the Second World War. Thanks to the learned and dedicated librarians and archivists of the past centuries, our 65,000-volume library, along with our archives preserving the records of the archdiocese and its institutions, continues to welcome readers and researchers today.
