Following repeated requests from researchers, new IT developments now allow duplicate copies of parish registers dating back to 1895 to be searched in the order in which they were created; however, we have retained the option of searching in archival and chronological order. In practical terms, this means that our registered and subscribed e-researchers can choose between the VFL I.1.24 archival series and the duplicate copies of the parish registers in terms of the structure in which they wish to conduct their research.
While sorting the photographs of duplicate copies of parish registers by parish, we also discovered gaps where parish registers from certain parishes were missing for a given year, which we marked on the research interface. The indication of the parish’s year cycle also refers to its year of foundation, if it fell between 1895 and 1934.
Of course, it is possible that the sorting of photos was not entirely successful and that some photos may be found under the wrong parish. If you encounter such a situation, please contact our staff so that we can correct the error.
